Hello,

My name is Joseph Del Monte founder and president of Velia Travel Service. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Montecatini, Tuscany, Italy. I came to the United States in 1970. About two years after my arrival, I began work at Logan International Airport in Boston with Alitalia Airlines. I worked a few years with Alitalia until they closed the station at Logan. In 1981, I established Velia Travel Service. As I personally knew Tuscany, village by village, town by town, and city by city, our specialty was travel to Tuscany, and Italy in general.

The reputation for our service and expertise soon spread throughout the community and beyond. I remember in 1983, when I first tried to arrange a few doctors' conventions in Montecatini, the question was: "Where is Montecatini ?". Now, I would say everybody knows of Montecatini and Tuscany. For most Americans and international tourists, Tuscany has become the "in" the place to go these days. And so our specialization in this beautiful region of Italy for the past twenty years, has come to be valued and recognized world wide.

In October of 2000, representatives of the tourist board of Tuscany came to Boston to promote their products: travel, hotels, restaurants, food, etc. In recognition of my knowledge of and service to Tuscany, they asked me to arrange all the workshops, transfers, and hotels. The promotion was quite a success. In September of 2001 La Nazione, a national newspaper edited in Florence, Tuscany, devoted a half page as a tribute to me and my Company for my dedication to Montecatini Terme. And the city of Siena has recently posted my Company as its designated travel agency of choice on its web site.   

So, if you want to travel to Italy, and visit the people and culture of Tuscany (and maybe even my city of birth, the wonderful city of Montecatini)  we would be very happy to help you.
