MERLIN Makes Predictions for the New Year 1998 on Alan Colmes' Radio Show

(UPDATE) -- ALAN COLMES syndicated radio program, the Monday morning after New Year's 1998.. Alan is asking Dr. George Hart and Paul Guercio about Terry Nichols. MERLIN indicated that the jury would NOT recommend the death penalty. THEY DIDN"T and under Federal sentencing guidelines, the presiding judge is unlikely to. MERLIN also correctly forecast the (1995) acquittal of OJ Simpson and the (1997) release of the Boston Nanny for time served.

Additionally, we were asked to determine MERLIN indicators for:

(FINANCIAL MARKETS) -- A continued, even escalating market instability, spiked by several dramatic Asian and Southeast Asian market drops combines with simultaneous currency fluctuations to plague WALL STREET in 1998. WITHIN DAYS of that forecast, the Indonesian markets precipitated the single largest one week drop in the Dow in history.

(SADDAM HUSSEIN) -- On Colmes October 1990 program, we indicated that (1) there would very likely be a short war with Iraq, commencing around New Year's 1991 (it began January 16, 1991 and ended February 28, 1991) and (2) that MERLIN indicated continued and regular episodes of saber-rattling with the Iraqi leader for at least the next seven years.

The current episode represents a "changepoint" in his "Timetrak®" and marks the beginning of a new phase in our dealings with him.

(BILL CLINTON) -- On Colmes program in 1991 and on a number of subsequent CNN/Larry King LIVE appearances, we indicated that the Clinton Presidency displayed two critical junctures. The first "changepoint", we said, came at about the 18 month mark.

IT HAPPENED at precisely the indicated time and resulted in the first loss of both Houses of Congress to Republicans in over 40 years. And yes, we also thought that Clinton's various scandals could tip the 1996 election to Bob Dole, if enough credible evidence surfaced in a timely fashion. Enter Kenneth Starr.

The second "changepoint" we detected in 1991 (and restated on Colmes January 1998 program,) was scheduled to begin this year and peak in the period between mid-1999 and mid-2000. Enter Monica Lewinsky.

Other quick hits from Colmes 1998 program, included the following:

(THE POPE) -- A highly transitional 18 months for John Paul II with additional medical problems looming. MERLIN correctly forecast the 1981 time window of the Pope's assassination attempt (WBZ) and the near-fatal July 1992 medical crisis. (CNN)

(ELECTION 2000) -- The current front-runners (Gore, Gingrich, Kemp, Forbes) likely to be replaced by others not currently considered serious contenders. Dan Quale likely to reemerge as a candidate. A woman VP candidate likely on one or both tickets. Gingrich has a better shot in 2004 as does a woman at the head of a ticket.

(BILL GATES) -- A turbulent two years for Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates. The entire time window from mid-1995 thru 2000 looks especially uncharacteristic, with a peak coming this year and next. Stay tuned.
